    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Akshaya Vidyalaya, its educational impact and the project participation process.

Akshaya Trust is proposing to raise funds for Phase 2 of Akshaya Vidyalaya at Arpakkam Village, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. The project focuses on expanding the school infrastructure to support education for higher grades and enable students to continue their learning journey within the same supportive environment.

Phase 1 of Akshaya Vidyalaya has established the foundation for accessible and quality education in the community. As students progress to higher grades, additional infrastructure is required to provide continuity of education and accommodate the school’s growing academic needs. Phase 2 is therefore planned to expand the school for Grades 6 to 12, with the immediate construction requirement focused on the proposed senior school building.

The impact assessment records improved access to affordable quality English-medium education, functioning school infrastructure, improved educational continuity and a holistic learning environment. It also notes stronger community acceptance and parental participation. The school currently serves 470+ students, with 22 classrooms in operation and 54 teaching and support staff, demonstrating an established base on which the next phase will be developed.

The Social Stock Exchange is a separate segment of recognised stock exchanges created to provide eligible social enterprises with a regulated framework for raising funds and reporting their social impact. Eligible Not for Profit Organisations can register on the SSE and raise funds for specified social projects through permitted instruments. Securities and Exchange Board of India

Yes. Akshaya Trust is registered on the NSE Social Stock Exchange. The registration enables the Trust to proceed with the applicable process for raising funds for an eligible social project through the SSE. Registration itself is distinct from the opening of a public issue; the project fundraising process involves further documentation, review and issue-related steps.

A ZCZP is a fundraising instrument that can be issued by an eligible Not for Profit Organisation registered on the Social Stock Exchange for a specific social project or activity. It carries no coupon or interest, and the principal amount is not repaid on maturity. The purpose of participation is therefore to support measurable social impact rather than earn a financial return. Securities and Exchange Board of India

Participation can include eligible individuals and institutional contributors, subject to the terms and conditions specified in Akshaya Trust’s final fundraising document and the applicable SSE framework. The outreach for the project is expected to include CSR contributors, HNIs, family foundations, institutional donors and individual contributors. Final application and participation details will be communicated when the issue opens.

The website can provide participation information for CSR organisations, institutional supporters and other eligible contributors. The exact eligibility and participation terms should be based on the final approved issue documentation.

The funds will be utilised for the specific project and activities disclosed in the final fundraising document for the Akshaya Vidyalaya Phase 2 project. The detailed project cost, approved budget heads, proposed utilisation and implementation schedule will be disclosed as part of the fundraising documentation.

Project performance will be monitored against defined output, outcome and impact indicators. These will cover areas such as infrastructure created, student access and enrolment, educational continuity, participation, learning environment and the broader benefits created for the target community. Social enterprises registered or raising funds through the SSE are also subject to prescribed impact-reporting requirements. Securities and Exchange Board of India

Student progress will be monitored through the school’s regular academic and programme monitoring systems. This can include enrolment and attendance, academic progression, assessments, participation in school activities and continuation across grades. Relevant indicators will be consolidated as part of the project’s monitoring and impact reporting framework.

The project seeks to create a pathway for children to continue from foundational and primary education into secondary and senior secondary education. Over the longer term, the initiative is expected to contribute to improved educational continuity, stronger learning opportunities and greater access to quality education for children from underserved communities in and around Arpakkam.

The project is primarily aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education. Based on the final project framework and identified beneficiaries, it may also contribute to broader goals relating to reduced inequalities, gender equality and sustainable communities. The final SDG mapping should remain consistent with the DFRD and impact framework.

Interested organisations can register their interest with Akshaya Trust and connect with the project team for further information. Depending on the final issue structure and applicable requirements, eligible organisations may participate in the proposed ZCZP issue once it opens. Prospective contributors can also engage with Akshaya Trust before the issue to understand the project, its intended impact and the proposed utilisation of funds.

The issue is not yet open for subscription. Akshaya Trust is presently progressing through the required fundraising and documentation process. The final issue size, opening and closing dates, application process and other terms will be communicated once formally finalised.

Relevant documents can be made available through the Documents and Disclosures section of this SSE webpage. These may include Akshaya Trust’s SSE registration details, Draft Fund Raising Document, Final Fund Raising Document when available, annual reports, audited financial statements, impact assessment reports, annual impact reports and other relevant project disclosures.

Interested individuals and organisations can use the Register Your Interest section on this page or contact Akshaya Trust through the details provided. Registered prospects can then receive relevant project and issue updates as the fundraising process progresses.
