Building a Better Future for All
In the service of the society for more than two decades with an aim to create better world for both old and the young.
About Akshaya Trust
Founded in 2001 by Mr. G. Gopalan, Akshaya Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of destitute senior citizens and underprivileged children in Chennai. Our mission, “Protect the old and propel the young,” reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing and uplifting those who need it most. Through free old-age homes and access to quality education, we strive to create a compassionate and empowered community.
We take immense pride in being Tamil Nadu’s first old-age home registered with the Social Stock Exchange and among the first 100 NGOs listed on the NSE across India.
Our Initiatives
Old Age Homes—A Haven of Love and Care
At Akshaya Trust, we embrace the elderly with open hearts, offering them not just shelter but a life filled with dignity, warmth, and companionship. We currently provide free housing to over 350+ senior citizens across six homes in Mudichur, Pallikaranai, Valasarawakkam, Pallavakkam, Velappanchavadi and KK nagar. Beyond just a roof over their heads, we ensure they receive nutritious meals, medical care, and moments of joy proving that aging should be filled with love, not loneliness.
Educational Support—Lighting the Path for Young Minds
Every child deserves a chance to dream big. Each year, we sponsor educational fees for nearly 100 students, removing financial barriers and empowering them to pursue academic excellence. Through education, we give them the tools to create a brighter future.
Arpakkam Village Project—Building a Foundation for Growth
We are embarking on a transformative project in Arpakkam, Tamil Nadu, which includes an English-medium school, a skill training center, and a children’s home. This initiative aims to uplift the rural community through education and vocational development, ensuring every child and family has access to a better life.
None of this would be possible without the support of our donors. We are deeply grateful to them for helping us make a difference in the lives of abandoned senior citizens. We hope that they will continue to support us as we strive to bring love, hope, and happiness to those who need it the most.
Akshaya Trust is a registered NGO, and is run by eminent Trustees and a set of board members. We are registered with unique ID TN/2017/0181614 and have registration number 619/2001. We also have 80G exemption available.
